Nike Unveils “Project Amplify” — The World’s First Power-Assisted Running Shoe

耐克推出“全球首款动力鞋系统” 走路时额外提供30%推力- 科技与体育

👟 A Step Towards the Future of Running

Running might never feel the same again. Nike has just revealed Project Amplify, the world’s first powered shoe system, designed to give runners an extra boost with every step.

Built with lightweight robotic technology, Project Amplify actively supports your stride — helping you run more efficiently, recover faster, and go further with less effort. It’s aimed at everyday runners who pace between 10–12 minutes per mile, but it could also benefit rehab users, city commuters, and marathon enthusiasts.

⚙️ How It Works

Co-developed with robotics company Dephy, the system uses a miniature motor unit and a precision drive belt that mimics the movement of your calf muscles. When your heel hits the ground, the shoe provides around 30% extra propulsion, giving you a noticeable push forward.

Each shoe weighs about 320 grams, featuring an aerospace-grade aluminium frame and high-strength nylon composites for durability without extra bulk. Inside, a thermal channel system keeps the motor cool during long runs — ensuring consistent performance throughout your workout.

🔋 Smart Power Meets Smart Running

Project Amplify includes pressure sensors that monitor your stride in real time and automatically adjust support. For instance, it boosts power when you’re climbing and switches to a shock absorption mode when going downhill.

It’s powered by a rechargeable lithium battery offering up to two hours of active use (at 10 min/mile pace). Recharging takes roughly 90 minutes via a magnetic USB-C dock, and when battery levels drop below 20%, the system enters a power-saving mode that prioritises core assistance.

🧠 Proven Results

According to test data, runners using Project Amplify improved their average pace by 15% and saw an 8% increase in VO₂ max. In a 10km trial, perceived exertion scores (RPE) dropped from 14 — “fairly hard” to 11 — “light”, showing real potential to make running more accessible and efficient.

Nike hasn’t announced a release date yet, but one thing’s clear — Project Amplify could mark the beginning of a new era in wearable robotics for sports.
